Over the years we have held fund-raising events for a number of different charities:
Most recently we joined with all North Tyneside schools and held a Dress In Red Day to raise funds to buy a defibrillator. The children learnt about Sudden Cardiac Arrest and how defibrillators work to save people's lives.
We always enjoy joining in Red Nose Day events. Nearly everyone, including staff, tries to wear as much red as they can, wearing our PJ's or dressing as superheroes. Sometimes we have special RND assemblies, where everyone enjoys singing silly songs and dancing. One year, two of our most talkative Year 6 boys carried out a Sponsored Silence - it was bliss while it lasted!!
In past years we have raised money for St Oswald’s Hospice by doing a 4 kilometre sponsored Fun Walk at Gateshead Stadium. Selling their Beanie toys throughout the school raised further funds for the charity.
We also raised funds on our 'Get Stripped Day' and donated some of the proceeds from the Inflatable Assault Course at the Summer Fair to Macmillan Cancer Relief, as one of our pupils had undergone treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia.
In recent years we have raised a fabulous £900 for LEPRA, where the whole school took part in fun workouts to remind us how good it is to have healthy bodies and minds.
We had a Tsunami Aid Performance and covered a world map with pence pieces to donate £350 to the appeal.
We also hold fundraising events for the school to purchase new resources or to fund educational visits throughout the year. We have had successful discos, Summer Fairs and Coffee Afternoons. We have had a 'Masked Ball', where some wonderful well dressed ladies and gentlemen came to strut their stuff. The 'Spooky Disco' is always a great hit!!
