Welcome to the Backworth Park Primary School website! We hope you will enjoy your visit and find it interesting and informative.

Our school is situated in its own leafy grounds, set off Station Road in Backworth Village adjacent to the Miners Welfare and Golf Club. Built in 1967 as a First School, we were refurbished in 2000 and extended to a Primary School. We currently have 140 pupils, aged between 3 and 11 years of age.

Backworth Park is very much a family school, where we pride ourselves on knowing all the children and their parents/carers very well. Our happy and friendly ethos is one where each child is valued and is encouraged to enjoy learning, to become a ‘Backworth Buddy’ and good citizen and to achieve their potential across a range of life skills. We were delighted that these important qualities about our provision were recently recognised by OfSTED. Our dedicated and caring staff work very hard to meet the individual learning and pastoral needs of all our children. Parents are welcomed as partners in their child’s education and development and to become fully involved in the life of the school.
