Welcome to Year 1 Page

Welcome back after the Autumn half term.

 

Our exciting topic this term is ‘Dark, Dark Night!’

 

Class Targets: Autumn

Writing: To write simple sentences using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops and conjunctions. To say my sentences out loud before I write it. To understand what an adjective and noun is.

Reading: To understand a range of books and talk about them. I can say all the letter sounds and some digraphs and trigraphs sounds.

Maths: To understand numbers and place value, addition and subtractions, geometry and measuring.

 

A Few Reminders

P.E – will be on Wednesdays and Fridays, (P.E. bags will be kept in school and taken home at the end of half term to be cleaned). The P.E kit is blue/black shorts or trousers, a white t-shirt and black sand shoes. Please make sure all kit and P.E bags are named.

Home-School Reading Books – Home-School Reading Books will be changed and go home on Fridays, children need to bring in their reading book and reading record every day in their book bag.

Homework – Homework will be given out on a Friday and collected on Wednesday the following week.

Spelling – Spellings will be given out on a Monday to be tested on Friday.

Uniform – Please make sure your child’s uniform is named.

 

Parents evening will be 8 and 9 November.

Christmas performance is Friday 15 December 9.15am.

 

Your child is welcome to bring in things related to the topic of ‘Dark Dark Night’ to show and tell, such as a book or an object. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you for your support.
