At Backworth Park Primary, we recognise how music has touched and helped shape our world. Consequently, we want our children to make more music, think more musically and be more musical. In order to do this, we provide children with a range of opportunities to experience, react to, create and enjoy a wide variety of musical genres and styles. We give them the language and the skills to appreciate music and create it too. From singing simple rhymes and songs to performing using multi-parts and harmonies, children can express themselves with their voices. They learn to play instruments from simple percussion to djembe drums, from recorders to ukuleles. In addition to high quality teaching, we use professional musicians to perform and work alongside us, enriching the curriculum even further.
